This could be happening because the "apply discount code" interaction is positioned below the "add to cart" interaction.

This causes the product to be added to the cart before the "apply discount code" interaction is triggered. To fix this, can you please place the the "apply discount code" interaction before the "add to cart." That should fix this, but if it doesn't let me know!
