Subdomains
Last updated: July 23, 2025
This page is about how to publish Replo content to a subdomain of your store website, like go.mystore.com. For info on setting up custom subdomains for A/B testing links, see 📄 A/B Testing Custom Domains.
A subdomain is an additional part of a primary domain name that helps organize and navigate different sections of a website. It appears before the main domain name and is separated by a dot, like "blog.example.com" where "blog" is the subdomain. Subdomains are often used to create distinct areas of a website for specific purposes, such as a blog, store, or support section, while still being part of the main domain. This structure allows businesses to manage different sections of their website more efficiently without needing separate domain names for each part.
How Replo Works with Subdomains
Replo publishes directly to your Shopify theme. Learn more about how Replo handles publishing here. Shopify handles domain settings, including what domain to use for the content that Replo published. This means you can manage your subdomains and other domain configurations directly inside of Shopify, and Replo content will show on whatever domain you've configured inside of Shopify, whether that's a subdomain or a main domain.
Subdomains managed through Shopify
Since Shopify handles all domain and subdomain settings, including purchasing, connecting, and managing domains, we recommend following Shopify's guides for these tasks. Here's a quick overview of the steps involved:
Publish Your Page on Replo: Start by creating and publishing the page you want to link to a subdomain in Replo.
Set Up Your Subdomain in Shopify:
Log into your Shopify admin and navigate to Settings > Domains section.
Follow Shopify's guide to either purchase a new domain, add a subdomain to an existing domain, or connect a domain from a third-party provider.
For detailed instructions, refer to Shopify's guide on managing domains and subdomains.
Connecting a Third-Party Domain
If you're using a domain from a third-party provider (like GoDaddy), you can create a subdomain on their platform and connect it to your Shopify-managed site.
For step-by-step instructions on connecting a third-party domain to Shopify, see Shopify's domain setup guide.
Workarounds for Ad Disapproval
For brands using Shopify to sell sensitive products (i.e., cannabis, alcohol, etc.) that face ad disapproval issues, there are potentially ways to use Replo on a subdomain of your main site to circumvent or mitigate these disapprovals.
If you are using a headless environment (one where you have your product information stored on Shopify but a different provider for your front-end website experience) you can set up a subdomain (for example,lp.maindomain.com) on your main Shopify store and then use Replo to publish content directly there. This allows you to configure ad platform pixels differently between this subdomain and your main domain.
If you're not using a headless environment (i.e., you're using Shopify for both for your product listings/order tracking, and your website) is to set up a secondary Shopify store with a subdomain from your core site domain, which you can then deploy Replo on.
